CMA Foundation FAQ
Clear answers to common preparation questions.
Which CMA Foundation syllabus should I follow?
Use ICMAI's current Syllabus 2022 curriculum and the materials or amendments applicable to your examination term. Older paper names can hide important changes in scope.
Is the accounting paper only financial accounting?
No. The current title is Fundamentals of Financial and Cost Accounting. Include both perspectives in your preparation.
Where does business communication fit?
It is part of Paper 1 alongside Business Laws. Practise understanding business language and communicating clearly, rather than treating the paper as law alone.
Is the examination mode guaranteed to be the same every term?
No. Use the official Foundation examination notice for your own term. The June 2026 notice is a reference, not a promise about every future sitting.
Is Foundation the only entry route to Intermediate?
Not necessarily. ICMAI provides other entry or exemption routes for specified qualifications. Check the current admission rules; do not assume every graduate or professional qualification is automatically eligible.
