Syllabus 2022 reference. Group I contains Direct and Indirect Taxation—not a separate business mathematics/statistics paper. The term's timetable and examination instructions determine the assessment details; tax and legal amendments have their own applicability cut-offs. Check the institute's enrolment notice, syllabus, applicable amendments, exemptions and training requirements for your own examination term. Passing an examination is not the same as completing all qualification or membership requirements.

CMA Intermediate FAQ
Clear answers to common preparation questions.
Is there a mathematics/statistics paper in Group I?
No. Under Syllabus 2022, Group I has Business Laws and Ethics, Financial Accounting, Direct and Indirect Taxation, and Cost Accounting. Business mathematics/statistics is a Foundation area, not a separate Intermediate Group I paper.
What belongs in Group II?
Operations Management and Strategic Management; Corporate Accounting and Auditing; Financial Management and Business Data Analytics; and Management Accounting.
Can I use last year's tax material unchanged?
Do not assume so. Check ICMAI's term-specific amendments and applicability guidance. Mark the relevant assessment year, law and cut-off alongside your notes.
Do graduates always have automatic direct entry?
No blanket assumption is safe. ICMAI specifies which qualifications and conditions support direct admission or exemptions. Verify your own qualification using the institute's current admission rules.
How should I connect accounting with management questions?
After a calculation, write one sentence explaining its consequence for the business. Compare alternative assumptions, identify the decision being made and note which information would change your recommendation.
