Subject choice
Mathematics and Biology routes have different programme eligibility.
A flexible routine
Use short, regular sessions and review the causes of errors.
Exam pattern overview
Understand the structure so you can plan your preparation.

130 multiple-choice questions
2026 pattern
Duration
180 minutes, without separate part-wise time limits

Read the official rules before choosing it
Pattern shown from the 2026 official publication. Re-check the bulletin, syllabus and admission rules for your own examination year; later notices take precedence. The optional extra-question route changes whether earlier answers can be revisited. Confirm programme eligibility before selecting Biology.

Subjects and preparation areas
Prepare the subject combination you will actually take. Do not leave English or reasoning until the final week.
Computer-Based Test
Choose Mathematics or Biology for Part IV according to programme eligibility; both routes also include Physics, Chemistry, English and logical reasoning. Do not assume the Biology route qualifies for every programme.

BITSAT FAQ
Clear answers to common preparation questions.
Can I choose Biology instead of Mathematics?
Yes, but not for every programme. The 2026 brochure restricts Biology-route programme eligibility. Check its current qualification and programme rules rather than assuming PCB gives access to all B.E. options.
Does BITSAT have negative marking?
Yes. Incorrect answers carry a penalty under the 2026 scheme, so practise making reasoned choices rather than answering carelessly.
What should I know about the extra questions?
The official brochure describes an optional route after answering the main paper. It has specific conditions and prevents returning to the earlier main-paper answers once selected. Read those rules carefully.
How can I improve speed without losing understanding?
First solve a small set accurately without a timer. Then repeat similar ideas under a gentle time limit. Record whether an error came from the concept, the calculation or the decision to rush.
