SSC CHSL FAQ
Clear answers to common preparation questions.
Is SSC CHSL Tier II a descriptive paper?
No. The 2026 notice describes computer-based knowledge sections and a skill/typing section. Older essay-and-letter Tier II descriptions are outdated.
Which posts are covered by CHSL?
The notice covers Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operator posts. Available departments and vacancies are cycle-specific.
Do I need a typing or data-entry test?
The applicable skill or typing test depends on the post. The notice explains the DEO and LDC/JSA standards and any exemptions.
Does Class 12 pass mean I am eligible for every post?
Not necessarily. Some posts have additional subject requirements, and the notice also sets other eligibility conditions. Check each post before choosing it.
How can I improve speed without losing accuracy?
Understand the method first, practise a small set carefully and review every error. Once the approach is reliable, gradually add timing and mixed revision.
