Why MHT-CET matters

A state entrance route with group-specific subjects and a separate admission process.

Course pathways

Explore engineering, pharmacy and other courses covered by the official process.

PCM or PCB

Match your subject group to your qualification and intended course.

A separate admission step

Check the applicable CAP and institution requirements after the test.

Strong foundations

Connect school learning with careful problem solving and regular review.

Exam pattern overview

Understand the structure so you can plan your preparation.

PCM group

150 questions: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

2026: Maths +2; Physics and Chemistry +1 per correct answer

PCB group

200 questions: Physics, Chemistry and Biology

2026: +1 per correct answer

Timing

180 minutes: 90 for Physics–Chemistry, then 90 for Maths/Biology

Negative marking

No negative marking in either group

Pattern shown from the 2026 official publication. Re-check the bulletin, syllabus and admission rules for your own examination year; later notices take precedence. PCM and PCB do not have the same question count or subject-wise marking. The first timed block closes before the second opens.

MHT-CET FAQ

Clear answers to common preparation questions.

How are PCM and PCB different?

PCM includes Mathematics; PCB includes Biology. Their 2026 question counts and subject-wise marks differ. Choose according to the course and eligibility rules, not only your preferred subject.

Is every correct answer worth two marks?

No. In the 2026 PCM group, Mathematics questions carry two marks while Physics and Chemistry questions carry one. The PCB subjects carry one mark per correct answer.

Can I use one group’s Physics or Chemistry percentile in the other?

The 2026 brochure says Physics and Chemistry percentiles are not interchangeable between the PCM and PCB groups. Read the official scoring and admission guidance for your cycle.

Can I prepare alongside my board exams?

Yes, a shared chapter routine can help. First understand the school topic, then practise its objective applications. Keep a separate checklist for any differences between the board and CET syllabi.
